Pre-action Sprinkler System

Similar to a conventional sprinkler system, the pre-action sprinkler system involves an additional fire-detection device. The device detects a fire before the sprinklers are activated, opening the main valve for water to flow through the pipes before the sprinklers are activated.

As heat activates the sprinklers through the glass bulb or soldered link, the water flows through like in a wet sprinkler system.

Pre-action sprinkler systems provide an additional layer of protection for specialized areas that are at risk for serious damage due to damaged sprinklers and/or piping, such as museums.
